Lahti is a developing university city and  European environmental capital 2021. Lahti is a pioneer in carbon neutrality and Lahti is experimenting, for example, personal emissions trading. Could you find a partner in the Lahti region for your master’s thesis?

We offer 500 e start-up grant for master’s degree students starting their thesis.  The prerequisite is that master thesis is planned and launched in co-operation with a company or organization in the Lahti region.

The start-up grant is intended for the planning and contact phase of the thesis. During it, the intention is not to get the master’s degree done, but to get it boosted, with Lahti twist!

The funding can be used, for example, for trips to Lahti, planning, contacting business life. The Lahti University Campus can offer help with contacting companies.

Applications in November

Make a short, free-form application to the Lahti University Campus. The application should include the following:

Degree program? On what schedule your master`s thesis is progressing?

What topic and / or theme would interest you?

How could your topic be related to the Lahti region, what kind of company might be interested in it?

Have you already contacted any company / organization? If not, what is you contact plan?

A  brief description how you would promote your master’s degree if you receive a start-up grant.

Applications must be submitted no later than 12th of November and the decision on the start-up money will be no later than th of November. The money will be paid in 2020, but the work itself can start either in late 2020 or only in 2021.
