Research conducted by LUT University in Lahti

The research conducted by LUT University focuses on topical questions calling for action. The University seeks solutions to curbing climate change, promoting wind and solar power, recovering and reusing nutrients and waste, as well as ensuring continued access to clean water, air and energy. LUT helps society and companies to renew sustainably.

The international LUT science community on the Lappeenranta and Lahti Campuses are home to a total of approximately 6,500 experts and students. What began in Lahti as a regional unit of LUT has grown into a campus of over 100 people, including professors, researchers and employees in higher education services. Operations on the LUT Lahti Campus are not restricted by disciplinary borders. All of LUT’s academic units – the School of Energy Systems, the School of Engineering Science and the School of Business and Management – are active in Lahti. The core themes of research conducted in Lahti include the promotion of sustainability in companies and organisations, digitalisation, the capacity for innovation and renewal, as well as information management.

LUT continues to expand its research, development and teaching activities in Lahti, offering information, competence and viewpoints for the benefit of society, business, industry and the climate. LUT strives to systematically raise the quality, impact and visibility of its research as well as the amount of competitive funding to further solidify the university’s status, also internationally. THE World University and QS World University rankings already place LUT among the world’s best universities.
