The Coordination Unit of the Lahti University Campus is looking for a trainee to work from September 1 to December 31, 2021. Traineeship is a part of University of Helsinki’s Traineeship Programme for International Master Students (, which means all international Master’s students in Univeristy of Helsinki are eligible to apply.

Lahti is also a developing university city with two universities operating in the area: University of Helsinki and LUT University. Together, these universities form a network organization called the Lahti University Campus. Research and development on Lahti University Campus focuses on sustainable urban environments and their business and industry. Niemi Campus is at the heart of operations, housing the facilities of University of Helsinki, LUT University and the Coordination Unit of Lahti University Campus.

The Coordination Unit

The Coordination Unit is a service unit for the universities operating in the area. It handles universities’ joint communication, service and lobbying tasks, in addition to organizing events and gatherings. Through its operations, the unit brings together individuals, universities, interest groups and organizations, building bridges between the universities and the region’s business and industry. In this way, it helps to translate new ideas into practice.

Traineeship and applying

We are looking for a trainee to work as a part of the Coordination Unit. Work can be done partly remotely, partly in Niemi Campus in Lahti. We offer a great possibility to work in a multidisciplinary environment and to gain experience working with local universities, companies, and stakeholders.

We are looking for a person who interested in:
– Organizing events for international students (for example Lahti Venture Program and Match Made in Lahti event)
– Writing popular articles related to the world of science and local science community
– Using social media as a communication tool
– Meeting and working with multiple new people
– Learning about administrative tasks related to academia

The duration of a traineeship is from September 1 to December 31, 2021 (four months) of part-time (50%) work, leaving time for studies as well. The salary of a trainee is €700 per month for a part-time (50%) trainee.
