Due to the decision to host the symposium online, the pre-registration and abstract submission deadline has been extended to 31.3.2021

The aim is to continue the lively debate about future challenges in the field of lake restoration, such as the impacts of environmental change and economic development on lake systems. The symposium will be organized by the University of Helsinki, Lake Vesijärvi Foundation, and the SIL working group on Lake Restoration. It also forms part of the official Lahti European Green Capital 2021 events.

Themes

The symposium is open to researchers and water managers working on all themes related to restoration of eutrophic lakes, including nutrient reduction strategies, biomanipulation, aeration, chemical treatment and hypolimnetic withdrawal, with an emphasis on understanding biogeochemical processes and implementing scientific knowledge into good management practice.
