LAHTI SCIENCE DAY
Lahti Science Day is a science event for the general public held in Lahti on November 14th. Science Day highlights the results of research and development conducted in and about the Päijät-Häme region and the importance of science in enhancing the economy and well-being of the area.
The keynote speakers are Meteorologist and Project Manager Lea Saukkonen (Meteorological Institute) and Professor Stephan Pflugmacher Lima (University of Helsinki). Their topics relate to current environmental themes. Saukkonen asks if Finland’s summer and winter are threatened by the changing climate. Pflugmacher Lima looks at how climate conditions influence the toxicity of microplastics.
The full program of the Science Day can be found on the event page. The sessions will present, among other topics, research in the circular economy, design, aesthetics, environmental science and entrepreneurship.
The new premises of Lahti University of Applied Sciences on Mukkulankatu provide a great setting for the seventeenth Science Day. The event is organized by Lahti University of Applied Sciences, Lahti University Campus and Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences Vierumäki Campus. The event is free and open to everyone.
